The model was designed to a scale of 1:200, using shipyard documents.
The kit contains the finished plastic hull which substantially shortens the construction time. The hull dimensions do permit the installation of multi-channel remote control.

The kit is supplied complete with detailed fitting set which features anchors, life-boats, radar, etc.

Laid down on 15 June 1935, Scharnhorst was built at the Kriegsmarinewerft dockyard in Wilhelmshaven; Launched 3 October 1936, she was completed in January 1939; armed with a main battery of nine 28 cm (11 in) C/34 guns in three triple turrets.
Scharnhorst displaced 32,600 t (32,100 long tons) as built and 38,700 t (38,100 long tons) fully loaded with an overall length of 234.9 m (771 ft), a beam of 30 m (98 ft) and a maximum draft of 9.9 m (32 ft 6 in).
Scharnhorst was powered by three Brown, Boveri & Co geared steam turbines, which developed a total of 159,551 shp (118,977 kW) and yielded a maximum speed of 31 knots (57 kmh; 36 mph) on speed trials.
